Garden City Smartphone App?

The City of Garden City is one step closer to getting its very own smartphone app.  The city has designed a smartphone app that will allow users to instantly access an array of municipal information at the tap of a smartphone screen.  The app is being reviewed by Apple, Inc., and Google, Inc., and should be available in the iPhone and Android app markets for free download within the next couple weeks!  One more way the city is working hard to bring city hall to you!

2011 Holiday Tree Lighting

The 2011 Garden City Tree Lighting ceremony will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011, at 7:00 PM at the Commons Corner plaza (northwest corner of Ford Road and Middlebelt Road).  A special thanks goes out to the Garden City Downtown Development Authority for its sponsorship and coordination of this year's event.  Come out for some good family fun!

Thankful Things...

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our residents, businesses, family, and friends of Garden City!  Thanksgiving is a day of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude.  As I ponder the many wonderful blessings God has bestowed upon me and my family, I am so grateful for loved ones, good friends, a happy home, our wonderful country and those that sacrifice for us every day to keep her secure.  I also give thanks for the opportunity to work for such a wonderful community rich in its history and secure in the dedication and commitment of its outstanding citizenry.  While Garden City faces many challenges over the months and years ahead, I am grateful for the knowledge that, working together, we will be able to overcome any obstacle.

Yesterday, Garden City honored American veterans with its annual Veterans' Day ceremony.  The ceremony was beautiful and moving, and it warms my heart to see so many GC residents come out to take part.  Our veterans put their lives on the line every day to protect the liberties and way of life we hold so dear, and, while we set aside a special day to commemorate and honor them, let's make sure that they are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers every day of the year!

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours

The City of Garden City trick-or-treat hours are Monday, October 31, 2011, as follows:

• Child With Parent - no restrictions
• Under 17 Without Parent - up to 10:00 PM
• 17 or Older - no restriction

Motorists, please drive carefully and watch out for trick-or-treaters crossing the streets!
